I just recently watched Beyonce’s video for “Why Do You Love Me?” and fell in love with it! It features a 1950’s pin-up style housewife Beyonce “B.B. Homemaker.”
The video starts with B.B. Homemaker in a red bandanna hair cover tied in a bow, a plaid top unbuttoned to a sexy low neck and tied at the bust, jean short shorts, thigh highs, red heels and thick black cat eyeliner. B.B. reads an instruction manual, fans herself, holds a wrench and fans herself in cute poses while standing over the open hood of her smoking car.
The next scene features B.B in a 50’s style living room sporting light purple pumps, a floral bustier and hot pants, chunky necklace, thigh highs with garters and red lips.
My favourite part of the video sports a chain-smoking, martini drinking and mascara running Beyonce bitching out her lover over the phone. All while wearing a sexy floral and black onesy, chunky necklace, lace thigh highs, gold earrings, numerous chunky rings, turquoise nails and shiny dark pink heels.
She also does a stylish job of mopping the floor and hanging up laundry in a red buttoned up cardigan, pearls, cream hot pants. bumped half up hair, nude pumps (a trend I am in love with, I need to get me a pair) and of course thigh highs.
One of my favourite outfits in the video is a red and white striped jacket with puffed shoulders and chain detail over a leopard print onesy with a thick black bet with a gold Chanel double C belt buckle, black and white pearls and blue rubber gloves while she does the dishes. Beyonce of course stole my dish washing outfit for this video but since she looks so good in it I’ll let it go. She later makes heart shaped cookies and a burning chicken in the same outfit (its versatile).
B.B. continues to water her garden wearing cutout, peep toe, sling-back, neon orange and green heels with her turquoise toe nails peeking out. She also wears a blue and white striped sleeveless jumpsuit with white belt, white cat eye sunglasses, a red 1950s style hat with jewel detail and purple lipstick.
Yet another outfit is a police style jewelled black hat with veil, black lace long-sleeved high neck onesy complete with a black riding whip and black thigh highs with garters.
B.B. spends her free time reading in cat’s eye glasses, red leather gloves and a black dress with white and black polka dot sleeves and neckline and volumous skirt, black heels and white socks with lace detail.
Even when B.B. takes a bath she does it in style. She dons a white shower cap with blond curls peeking out, gold sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, gold necklaces and salmon peep toe sling back heels.
I am a huge fan of this video because of the throw back style. I love 1950s fashion with red lips, pinups, cat eye glasses, hour glass shapes, full skirts and heels. The 1950s sported a less is more aspect to showing skin which I think is really sexy, leaving it up to the imagination like a naughty librarian fantasy. It also helps that Beyonce is amazingly talented and it’s a great song.
